Pet Peeve: Souped vs Suped (It’s all wrong!)
You know what’s becoming a pet peeve? when people type “souped-up” to mean that something is being improved upon, enhanced, or made better. *Why on earth would you want to put soup in your car? *It’s a fundamental lack of understanding of the slang (which was to make something *su*per), and it’s failed attempt at trying to incorporate ebonics. You know why people propbably don’t type “suped”/”sup-ed” and try typing “souped”/”soup-ed” ? Because “sup-ed”/”suped” looks wrong when they type it. Something, somewhere in the recesses of their brain is a signal saying, “don’t type that it will make you look dumb” so they override their conscience by metaphorically stabbing that part of their brain with Q-tip and type in “souped”. PRO TIP: Spelling something incorrectly over and over doesn’t make it right.
